There is nothing worse than a breakdown,especially if you don’t have breakdown cover!

It’s impossible to totally prevent a breakdown but one or 2 simple steps can help.

Ensure you have enough fuel,many call outs by breakdown services are because people don’t have enough fuel,don’t be one of those people!

A quick spray of WD40 on the battery terminals can help prevent a drained battery when the weather is wet or frosty.

Correct tyre pressures,your car manual will have recommended pressures this ensures best around performance for fuel consumption and general feel when driving your car.

Clean your car,a quick visit to a car wash works wonders and removes dirt which can cause problems such as corrosion (rust!).

A jet wash is best for cleaning under the car,to remove mud and grime from the underside of the car,so prolonging the life of your exhaust system and brakes pipes etc.

Of course even when you maintain your car a breakdown can happen.

A mobile phone then becomes essential(an in car charger is always handy),it’s worth considering joining a breakdown service such as the RAC for total peace of mind.
